Summer is Flyin' By!

Wow! I can't believe that July is almost half over! We are doing our best to enjoy each and every day whether we're just playing inside, enjoying the beautiful weather or going on little adventures!

Erin- Most of you know (but in case you don't...) I'm back in school. Yup, starting over, shooting for "plan B", changing paths, however you want to put it, that's what I'm doing. I'm looking at going back for a nursing degree and I'm currently taking an Anatomy & Physiology class at CVTC in Eau Claire. The class is 4 days a week, and A LOT of studying but I'm making my way through it with an A so far! When Josh helps me study he often tells me that I'm his hero and that he would have quit long ago. That makes me feel good and keeps me motivated! I see no purpose in going to school unless you're going to try your best and gain something from it. Taking care of Nash on a daily basis and trying to study proves to be challenging at times, but so far things have worked out. Aside from school, I keep VERY busy taking care of Nash, we sure have fun together! Even though there are times when I'm overwhelmed and begging for a break, I wouldn't trade anything for this time I get to spend with him. It's definitely true what they say: being a mom is the hardest job that you'll ever love.

Josh- Aside from working for the Sheriff's Dept and watching/playing with Nash when he can, Josh is keeping busy by playing golf, his Wednesday night softball league, maintaining the yard and other random household projects, and Country Jam (this week!). He has also proven to be a wonderful study buddy- he has become an excellent note card quizzer, which I greatly appreciate!

Nash- His new favorite thing? Talking on the phone...or at least pretending to. He uses our cell phones most often, but whatever he gets his hands on doubles as a phone- a Tupperware lid, a spoon, a remote control...whatever! He is walking all over the place these days and is working on running! He loves when we chase him around, he giggles like crazy! These days he wants to eat everything by himself! If we try to feed him yogurt, soup, or anything else that requires a spoon he tries to grab it from us and do it himself. He isn't a baby anymore...he literally has two nights of his bedtime bottles left and then he's done, done with bottles forever. I must admit, it makes me sad! We are so excited to watch him grow, but I wouldn't mind if he stayed a baby a little while longer....sniff, sniff.

Some fun things we've been up to lately:
  • Northern Wisconsin State Fair- Josh, Nash and I joined my dad and his girlfriend Barb to consume a ridiculous amount of greasy fair food! We all justify it by reminding ourselves that we only do it once a year (maybe twice!). Nash loved watching the fair rides and all the flashing lights. He enjoyed it a lot more than he did last year! He was 3 weeks old and slept the entire time!

  • Last weekend Nash and I spent a few days in Hayward with Grandma Debbie. We relaxed, did a little shopping, went on a few boat rides, and went swimming! A few months ago Nash really enjoyed boat rides, this time....not so much! He wasn't too impressed with the fact that his life jacket was riding up his face and squishing his cheeks. Hopefully next time goes better! What was the highlight of Nash's trip you ask? Probably that Grandma let him pick out his very own stuffed monkey. He even helped the guy at the store fill it with stuffing by stepping on the foot pedal!

  • Earlier this week Nash and I joined our friends Emily, Lily, and Joey at Beaver Creek Reserve. Their Butterfly Garden is open and the kiddos had fun watching all the butterflies! Nash and Joey kept pointing and making excited little noises....so cute! Later, we went inside and explored pine cones, real life stuffed animals, and turtle shells.

The Dogs- Oh, the dogs.....naughty, naughty dogs! Our newest addition, Rocky seems to enjoy eating random things like my flip-flops, magazines, and pillows. When I was up in Hayward, Josh came home after work to find this:

It took him 2 garbage bags, 3 times emptying the vacuum, and 1 1/2 hours to clean this mess up! And to think, that HUGE mess came from a small 12x12 inch pillow. Note to self: no more feather pillows! So far we've solved the problem by moving our shoes into the hall closet, and not keeping random things laying out and about...fingers crossed! We also need to stock up on dog bones to occupy them while we're gone. No matter what, we love them...unconditionally!

This week we are looking forward to Jake (Josh's brother) and Lauren coming for a visit from Texas and of course Country Jam! One final note.... I decided to shave Nash's hair the other day. Below you'll see the before and after shots, enjoy!

Have a great week everyone!
~Josh, Erin, and Nashville!
