Canine Company

We would like to happily introduce you to our new family member, Rocky. We adopted him from Bob's House in Eau Claire on March 16th. Bob's House is a great organization that works in conjunction with the Eau Claire County Humane Association, as well as sounding area shelters. We saw his picture on their website and applied for him immediately! During our adoption process we learned there were quite a few applications put in on him, thankfully we were first! He is a 1 year old Bernese Mountain dog mix~and they think some sort of spaniel. He has all the "Bernie" markings and the personality and temperament of a giant breed, only in a smaller spaniel type body. We have welcomed him into our home and hearts, and he's been a wonderful boy so far! We had originally planned on changing his name (Rocky wouldn't have been my first choice~sorry to any Rocky owners/lovers out there....I just tend to enjoy more original names), but then we decided it would probably be too hard on him. He was surrendered to the shelter and was very nervous and almost depressed. He's come a long way so far, and loves playing with his new dog "siblings", oh, and Nash too! I am going to start volunteering at Bob's House a few times a month, the owners are fitting me into their volunteer schedule as we speak. I'm excited to help out at such a great place. I fit in well with animal lovers, especially dog lovers!
Leaving the shelter, going home at last!
Snuggling with his new dad!

Last weekend, we (Josh, Nash, and I) went with Grandpa Jim (Josh's dad) to pick up his new puppy. Reggie is an 8 week old Great Pyrenees.....how adorable is he? Between our house and their house we have five, yes FIVE dogs! Should prove for some interesting times when we stop by for visits! Good thing we all love dogs! Jim will definitely show Reggie the "good life", his dogs tend to be quite spoiled!

Picking out his new pup!

Reggie!
Reggie came to visit Nash today!

On a much sadder note, Jean and Jim (in-laws) put there 4 1/2 year old Great Pyrenees to sleep yesterday. She was diagnosed with bone cancer not too long ago, and it progressed quite quickly. I know they will miss her terribly, but hopefully Reggie can fill some of their sadness with joy. We got Mischa a few weeks before they got Sidney so those two kind of "grew up" together. We will all miss her! RIP big girl! * I had the most adorable picture of Mischa and Sidney sharing a dog pillow as very young puppies, but of course, I couldn't find it tonight! I had good intentions.

We are looking forward to celebrating Nash's first Easter tomorrow with the family! I will post some pictures of that and a most detailed post soon. I always tell myself to post more often, but I keep getting sidetracked. I'll get better, I promise! Thanks for checking in with the Christenson's! HAPPY EASTER!!!!
