Nash Walker Christenson

After 19 hours of labor... which included 5 1/2 hours of pushing (!), our baby boy entered the world on June 18, 2009 at 6:49pm. He measured 22 inches long and weighed 8lbs 7oz.

My due date was June 17th.... with no signs of going into labor that day Josh and I decided to go miniature golfing and out for dinner. He also had a softball game at 10pm. After getting home around 11:45pm I started having some contractions. Long story short, I called the hospital around 3am, and they told me to take a bath and call back. Around 5:30am I called back and said the pains were getting worse, so they told me to come in. We got to the hospital at 7am and when they checked me I was already 6-7 centimeters! They broke my water around 1pm and our little man wasn't born until almost 7pm. The doctor told me that they usually intervene after 3 hours (or so) of pushing but since our (mine and the baby) heart rates were ok and I was making slow progress he didn't want to use the vacuum or give me a c-section. After Nash was born, the doctor shook my hand, congratulated me, and said that I really impressed him with all the pushing I did. Thanks to my wonderful husband and best friend Jen for being in the delivery room with me! When I wasn't in pain you guys kept things very entertaining, and when I needed you, you were both great! I love you!

Since we have brought Nash home things have been going well. The dogs have responded great and are very curious! Despite not getting much sleep, we are working things out and will hopefully be on some sort of schedule soon. We're trying to help Nash realize when day and night time is...... we'll get there someday! Josh has been helping out as much as he can, but since I'm breastfeeding there is only so much he can do so far. He's been cleaning, making meals, walking the dogs, and has now gone back to work. My mom spent several nights here playing "baby nurse". I would feed Nash and go up to bed, then she would bring him to me again when he was hungry. My friend Jen and my mother-in-law Jean also came down for a night shift.

Josh and I have really enjoyed our first 11 days of parenthood. We love cuddling with Nash and taking him on daily walks. We can't wait for more great days with him! Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations, gifts, visits, and help! We appreciate everything and everyone!
